Extra County schools in Nyamira violently shook the academic giants in the region in the just released 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The schools which have for a long time trailed the academic powerhouses registered impressive results.
They took a good junk of candidates who will join universities.
Kebirigo Boys’ High School topped in the County with a mean of 8.819, coming a head of Nyambaria High and Sironga Girls’ National Schools.
The two had a mean score of 8.7624 and 8.209 respectively.
Nyambaria High School had a record entry number of 543, probably the highest in the Nyanza region.
Their mean was an improvement of 0.7474 in 2019’s examinations.
508 students qualified for direct university entry grades of C+ (plus).
The school had six straight As.
Sironga Girls had a positive deviation of 1.8 from 2019’s 6.409.
341 out of 392 girls will be joining various universities in Kenya.
308 students out of 340 scored C+ and above in St. Peter’s Nyakemincha Secondary School with a mean of 8.026.
The school Principal Murungi Meme attributed the impressive grades to God and hard work from both teachers and candidates.
St. Charles Lwanga Nyansabakwa Boys’ School surprised many after it attained a mean of 8.07.
This was a significant improvement of 2.11 from 2019’s 5.96.
88 out of the 94 candidates scored C+ and above.
Mwongori High School in Borabu sub county scored a mean of 7.3158 with 291 students attaining university entry grades.
437 students had sat for the 2020 exanimations.
St. Paul’s Gekano Boys’ School and Nyaikuro SDA High School of Manga sub county registered a mean of 6.815 and 5.903 respectively.
Nationally, over 143,000 students attained grade C+ (plus) and above with 893 scoring A(plain).
