This festive season does not seem to have any relationship with the economic challenges Kenya is purported to be facing as far as entertainment and fun are concerned.

Despite the tough economic times, Kenyans seem to have saved for the holidays.

One key witness is the entertainment that is at its peak as local tourists scamp for space at the parking lot of the Lake Bogoria Spa and Resort.

The vast, well-manicured gardens create a refreshing difference between the inside and outside environment at the facility.

The resort embraces clean energy, transforming sunlight into usable power in these crucial times when global warming is creating a shift in weather patterns.

The Spa Resort is the only resort in Kenya with a naturally heated pool, also known as the healing place, because of the therapeutic values associated with the spa and the hot spring geysers.

The Lake’s spa has also been described in the past as “the jewel of Rift Valley”, in Bishop Hannington’s words, as ‘the most beautiful place in Africa”.

It is set in the acacia surroundings on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. The resort is 266km from Kenya’s Capital, Nairobi, 114km from Nakuru city, 95km from the equator crossing and 20km from Marigat town.

As various vehicles make their way into the facility, the restaurant area is a bee of activities.

In-house guests serve their meals from a buffet set up set beautifully at one end of the restaurant area inside; the outer restaurant plays host to walk-in local tourists.

This is where locals and international tourists meet.

The place is swamped by kids having their fun days as the parents watch with care.

The facility’s spa and salon allow guests, especially women, a chance to get beauty services.

The men get to enjoy a cool water pool away from the children’s, and enjoy their gym time at the modern equipped gym.

Various activities keep the guests entertained, including table tennis, pool, badminton, volleyball, arts and crafts, cycling, visiting the Bee-Keeping in-house apiary and shopping at the curio shop with assorted African handicrafts.

Talk of classy, highly-needed service offered by professional staff wearing smiling faces and with their name tags on.

The hospitality is top-notch. The services from the various professionals is evident with their swift and yet gracious movement to attend to any client.

The resort, with its three bars and three restaurants, offers an affluent selection of dining options, including local and continental cuisine.

The outdoor restaurant is set under a tent to save visitors from the sun, while underneath the wind is refreshing and reassuring guests of a promising, beautiful moment.

Security is at its best from the entrance. Talk about delicacies and the Lake Bogoria Spa and Resort “Muarubaini’ signature appetizer, which will have you extend your stay just to always have it.

The appetizer is said to strengthen bones and cleanse the body, among other benefits.

The muarubaini leaves, with the majority of produce derived from the organic farm. The produce includes vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices being certified organic.

While enjoying your stay in the Resort, the surrounding areas have lots of attractions. The enclosure itself has grey monkeys, ostriches, Marabou storks and Lorwal Swamp 200 meters from the resort.

The hot-spring geysers in Lake Bogoria National Reserve are a sight to behold. The Flamingo’s in the lake is home to one of the world’s largest populations of lesser flamingos and over 350 bird species, which include the greater Kudu. The area has historical Kipsaraman sites and the Tugen hills.

The temperatures are at 31°c, after spending a few minutes being frisked and checked by the security guides, we finally make it in, hungry and weary we are sure to have our re-settings satisfied at the spa.
