An educationist has asked managers of schools to have human face when demanding fees clearance by students.

Prof. Reuben Marwanga called on school management and heads to be considerate of the corona virus situation in fees payments.

Speaking in Nyansiongo ward in Borabu constituency Wednesday when he handed cheques to needy students, Prof Marwanga noted that the pandemic had hit hard on the world economy.

He requested schools to allow students in classes as a lasting solution is being sought to address the fees collection.

He said that keeping the learners in school could help improve the quality of education in the region.

“Education is a game changer in our lives, that is why I have a passion for it. I want to urge our schools to kindly allow our daughters is classrooms instead of sending them home for fees.

We understand the economy has been affected by the corona virus pandemic and that we should all be accommodative as we fight this pandemic together.”

He issued bursaries to needy students in Borabu sub county.

“This is a show of concern for our children. I would like to call upon other stakeholders to join hands and keep our children at school, if we must be mindful of the future generations,” said Prof Marwanga.

The professor is the patron of the Marwanga Foundation, which he says has been at the forefront of supporting Nyamira children in school fees from February 2021.

He asked government institutions offering bursary funds to ensure that no child from a needy and vulnerable background is left out.

“I call upon our government institutions giving out bursary funds to ensure that genuine needy that require the support are not left out; let the rightful children benefit so that our community is enlightened for the future,” added Prof Marwanga.

The Maasai Mara University don applauded the 2020 KCSE candidates for their impressive performance and for putting Nyamira county on the Kenyan map.

Prof. Marwanga is eyeing the Nyamira County governor seat in the next year’s general election.
