Nyamira county assembly’s committee for appointments has slated Friday 28, May for vetting of ex-West Mugirango Member of Parliament Dr. James Ondicho Gesami for the position of Deputy Governor (DG).

This is the second time Dr. Gesami is facing the vetting panel after his first attempt was thwarted by lack of crucial documents which he failed to present to the committee.

Among the documents he failed to turn up with are; police certificate of good conduct, credit reference bureau certificate (CRB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) clearance, EACC, Helb among others.

In a letter addressed to Dr. Gesami dated 25th May by the assembly’s clerk Mr. Duke Onyari, he was required to appear before the appointments committee on May 28 at 10 am for vetting and approval.

“You are scheduled to appear before the Committee on Appointments on 28th May, 2021 at the County Assembly of Nyamira Boardroom at 10 am for vetting and approval hearing,” stated Onyari.

If approved, Dr. Gesami will be the second DG in Nyamira after Amos Nyaribo assumed the office of governor, a seat that fell vacant after the death of John Nyagarama in December 2020.

His approval is likely to end over four months’ wrangles witnessed in the county assembly that divided the house right at the center.

On his nomination, Governor Amos Nyaribo noted that he considered the track record the ex-MP left in his constituency after serving for two terms; from 2007 to 2017.

Dr. Gesami served as an assistant minister in his first term and can be remembered for setting up many health facilities in West Mugirango.
