THIS, THAT & OTHER: Surmounting the odds

THESE two portraits are different in more ways than one; yet they are interlinked in multiple ways.

How? You may ponder. Let’s unpack the unique sights.

Don’t they tell a story about life’s difficult and winding pathways?

Isn’t this a graphic depiction of what happens when we’re chasing dreams?

Aren’t these eternal images a story about determination?

Look at the blossoming tree (featured). We all admire it, right?

But do you reckon the excruciatingly treacherous journey it has had to travel for it to tower the way you see it?

How about this beautiful Red Serpent River (below) of Pochola in Southern Sudan?

In Geography, we call that section or stage of the river The Lower Course; just when its about to empty its water to the sea or lake.

At that point it has lost the energy to erode due to the reduction of the gradient.

Yet it must navigate its way around obstacles for it to complete the journey commenced upstream at the source.

We all struggle. Its never easy. There is a virtue called persistence.

When you see a boxing champion holding his crown smiling, also recall the painful punches and knockouts he has had to endure to reach the top.

Just as that river winds around difficult obstacles to reach its destination, you too must avoid some distractions.

Avoid fellows who will make you abandon your dreams and they are many!

The late powerful motivational speaker and author Myles Munroe calls them toxic people.

All they tell you is, “it cannot be done. We tried and failed.”

Well, that’s them …Not you!

Keep company with people who fire up your dreams; people who ignite your sense of imagination.

Avoid fellows who have given up on everything and complain all the time.

Most people cast doubt about my writing journey. A few get encouraged though.

I chose to listen to the voice within me and not the noise around me. I’m not doing badly in that realm.

You got your dream? Go for it! Its never too late.

A pessimist will complain about the wind; the optimist will expect the winds to change. The discerning will adjust to the sails.

Blossom wherever it is God planted you.

Its possible!
