The Kitui Central Member of Parliament, Dr. Benson Makali Mulu has issued Ksh 47 million as bursaries to 12,573 students from the constituency.
The bursary issuance event was held recently at the Kitui Central Primary School in Kitui Town.
The event was attended by parents, guardians and students among other stakeholders.
In total, the Kitui Central Constituency has five wards.
Regarding national schools students who benefited from the bursaries, Dr. Mulu disclosed that Kitui Township Ward had 84 students.
It was followed by Kyangwithya East Ward with 61 students, Kyangwithya West with 54 students, Miambani Ward with 37 students and Mulango Ward with 35 students.
He highly lauded Kitui Township Ward for leading in the number of students.
“This shows that parents have committed themselves to take their children to school,” the MP said.
He also highlighted on the projects that he has supported through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) kitty.
The projects include the construction and renovation of classes in academic institutions.
Mulu announced that he has constructed an office for the Kitui Central District Officer (D.O) within the Kitui Town’s Manyenyoni Estate at a cost of Ksh. 15 million.
The parliamentarian further announced that he, in partnership with the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), has put up a studio for the good of the local artists.
The studio is also within the Kitui Town’s Manyenyoni Estate.
The meeting was addressed by Kitui Central CDF Manager Ben Kinyalili and Kitui Township Location Chief Benedict Kitheka Makuthu among others.
Makuthu is also the Union of Kenya Civil Servants (UKCS) National Vice Chairperson.
