Police in Nyamira are investigating an incident where a body of a middle aged man was today discovered decomposing in his house within Nyamira Township.

The man identified as Geoffrey Shaban’s body was discovered by a neighbour who was attracted by a foul smell in the compound.

The neighbour who sought anonymity said he called his neighbour and together broke into the compound only to find blood stains at the doorstep.

This prompted them to call area chief who informed the police.

Police arrived at the scene and broke into the house where they found the deceased’s decomposing body lying on the floor of his bedroom, naked.

There were blood stains strewn allover the house and what looked like knife stabs on his body.

Shaban lived in the compound alone after a disagreement with his wife several months ago.

Another neighbour said that he saw the deceased on the morning of Sunday 12th September.

Neighbours described Shaban as a rough man.

On the last day he was seen, he had removed steel windows from his mother’s new house and sold them, according to sources.

Only three weeks ago, the deceased was released from remand through the intervention of advocate Stephen Mogaka after spending a month in there.

He was reportedly arrested and held for contravening curfew regulations including putting on a face mask.

The body was moved to Nyamira County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy as police started investigations.
