Police in Nyamira are investigating an incident where a body was dropped from a vehicle at Konate junction Tuesday night.

The mutilated body was in a gunny bag.

The vehicle sped off.

The incident occurred at around 10pm, according to sources.

Nyamira County commissioner Mr. Amos Mariba said the male body was yet to be identified.

The vehicle was also not identified.

Officers from Nyamira’s Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on arriving at the scene discovered the head was missing.

The trunk was wrapped in red and black polythene bags.

“We have launched investigations to establish the identity of the body, the car that dropped it and the occupants of the vehicle.

We are also investigating the motive that led to the heinous act,” said Mariba.

The County Commissioner called on those whose kin is missing to report to Nyamira police and identity the body at the county referral hospital mortuary where it is
awaiting autopsy and identification.

The incident comes barely a week after a middle aged man’s body was found dumped by the roadside within Nyamira Township ward.

Cases of murder have been on the rise across the country in recent weeks.
