International University of East Africa (IUEA) has been honored as the best private University in East Africa during the 2021 East Africa Brand Quality Awards (EABQA).
IUEA is one of Uganda’s youngest universities.
It commenced operations in 2010 after receiving accreditation from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
The university has since endeavored to provide the best education to the country’s citizens and foreigners.
It is also rich in innovation and technology, as defined by its award-winning ‘IUEA electric bike’ and online U platform that allows one to study at their pace from anywhere in the world.
The award ceremony took place on December 16, 2021 at Golf Course Hotel.
The theme was: Innovation and Productivity: The Place of Quality in a Time of Sustainable Change.
Ugandan state Minister of Trade, Harriet Ntabazi presented the brand quality awards to 100 companies within the East African Community.
Ms Ntabazi praised them for their excellent product quality and service.
She honored the IUEA team, which included Vice Chancellor Prof. Emeka Akaezuwa, Quality Assurance Manager Mr. Akasa Omar, and University Chairman Amb. Moses Kiwe Sebunya, with the award for best private university in East Africa.
Prof. Emeka identified the link between universities and businesses, emphasizing how the higher institutions of learning assist in the growth of a business or company.
He cited the thousands of IUEA graduates who are succeeding in the workforce.
One of them is Canary Mugume, a popular media personality at NBS TV.
“Businesses have ideas, universities are able to help them bring those ideas to life, by helping them to analyze the markets and technology through training of individuals,” Prof. Emeka said.
This is IUEA’s fourth award in 2021.
It follows Consumers’ Choice Awards for best private university, Uganda Science Innovator’s Award for best innovator and 9th Visionary of Uganda Award for best visionary online teaching international university in Uganda.
Among the other winners of the East Africa Brand Quality Awards were; Kenya Airways, BIDCO Uganda, Huawei, Hisense, NTV Kenya, MTN, WWF, KBC, Bank of Africa, and Fresh Diary.
