Nestled amidst the tranquil backdrop of Lake Kariba, Siavonga has long captivated admirers with its natural splendour and picturesque landscapes.

However, beneath its tranquil facade lies a bustling centre of economic opportunity, poised to leave a lasting mark on the global business landscape.

Leading the charge in this economic revitalisation is the Siavonga Business Expo, Zambia, an international business exhibition and youth symposium dedicated to harnessing the district’s vast potential while confronting the challenges posed by climate change head-on.

Conceived by Kaps Afri-Zam Ltd, the Siavonga Business Expo represents a visionary endeavour aimed at showcasing Siavonga’s latent potential and providing a vital platform for local entrepreneurs to engage with global markets.

“Recognizing the latent potential of Siavonga amidst the climate challenges, we were inspired to catalyse its economic growth,” explained the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ben Kakumbi Kapeplesha.

The inaugural expo, held in June 2023, witnessed a convergence of over 110 commercial entities, organizations, cooperatives, and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Siavonga, showcasing their diverse offerings.

The resounding success of the event underscored the district’s developmental capabilities and captured the attention of investors worldwide.

Boosted by the triumph of its inaugural edition, Kaps Afri-Zam Ltd has unveiled plans for the Siavonga Market Place—a dynamic platform facilitating daily business linkages, connections, and consultations.

With collaborative support from government ministries, international allies, and industry stakeholders, the Siavonga Market Place aspires to position the district as a beacon of innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable progress.

The objectives of the Second Siavonga Business Expo are to create a conducive business environment to prepare for climate change impacts, establish business relationships between SMEs and commercial companies, and foster business opportunities among African countries.

Over the course of three days, the event will draw investors, manufacturers, producers, and entrepreneurs from at least 11 African nations, alongside delegates from across the globe. Scholar Media Africa is one of the partners.

Attendees anticipate exploring cutting-edge technologies, pioneering innovations, and best-practice methodologies for navigating business in the era of climate change.

Beyond its economic dividends, the Siavonga Business Expo holds the promise of fostering sustainable development and poverty alleviation within the region.

By attracting investment, generating employment opportunities, and fostering robust business networks, the expo aims to uplift communities and equip entrepreneurs to flourish amidst environmental adversity.

Dr. Kapeplesha emphasizes the importance of exchanging innovative ideas and fostering partnerships between countries.
