Police fugitive Kangogo kills self

A female officer who allegedly shot two men dead and went underground has reportedly taken her life.

Caroline Kangogo (featured) shot herself dead in a bathroom at her parents’ home in Keiyo, Elgeyo Marakwet County Friday morning.

Detectives were looking for her day and night after she allegedly killed two men, including a colleague.

Authorities said the officer shot herself on the head.

When she killed the two men, she vanished with the gun, which she probably used to kill herself.

Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya confirmed to journalists that the officer, a mother of two, had taken her life.

Her parents had earlier made pleas through the press for her to surrender.

Police had declared her armed and dangerous, and also mounted a search across the country, following reports that she was moving from town to town while armed.

It was not clear who her next target was.

Sections of the media quoted police sources who confided to them that they narrowed down on Kangogo on Thursday and it was a matter of time before they could arrest her.

“She shot herself in their bathroom using a pistol she had,” police told The Star.

Natembeya told Citizen TV on the phone that Kangogo arrived at her home at 5am.

“She later shot herself dead in the exterior bathroom within the home,” he said.

Natembeya said Kangogo it has not been established if Kangogo left a suicide note.

“Police have moved to the scene and investigations have started,” he said.
