Sensational moments

The 70th edition of the Safari Rally provided a captivating showdown between two motorsport titans, Sebastian Ogier, and Kalle Rovanpera.

Ogier, an eight-time world champion from France, held a slim 13.6-second advantage over Rovanpera, a Finnish professional rally driver and the reigning champion and points leader for 2023.

The final three stages of the rally would decide their fate, turning the concluding 10.53-kilometer Hell’s Gate route into a battleground of precision and speed.

As the sun set over Lake Naivasha, tension filled the air. The world held its breath as Ogier, running last, tackled the grueling final stage.

The French maestro’s nerves were tested as he pushed his skills to the limit, aware that every second counted.

Meanwhile, Rovanpera, hungry for victory, relentlessly pursued his adversary, closing the gap in less than ten seconds. The rally reached its pinnacle on that fateful Sunday in a heart-stopping climax.

Ogier, displaying the experience and composure of being an eight-time world champion, fought tooth and nail to maintain his lead.

Although he could only muster the fourth-fastest time in the Hell’s Gate route, he conceded a mere 2.5 seconds to Rovenpera, securing his place in motorsport history.

With 3 hours, 30 minutes, and 42.5 seconds, Ogier emerged victorious, claiming the 70th edition of the Safari Rally Kenya by a breathtaking margin of 6.7 seconds.

Talanta Hela Initiative

As the engines roared and the adrenaline soared, the Safari Rally ignited a passion for motorsport and created a thriving space for economic growth.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and The Arts, powered by Ace, harnessed the rally’s momentum to facilitate the Hustla Village.

This innovative platform allowed vendors to showcase their services at the exciting Talanta Hela WRC event held at Bufallo Mall, Naivasha, from June 23 to 25th.

Amidst the pulsating excitement of the rally, the Hustla Village bazaar whizzed with life and opportunity.
