Shareword Global is on a mission to provide bibles to every prisoner in the country.

The faith-based group says this is one way of addressing challenges that convicts go through while behind bars.

The organization is also helping clerics across the country to have bibles to promote evangelism.

This week, 5,740 bibles and 5,000 bible magazines were distributed to pastors in Homa Bay County.

Shareword Global Kenya Regional Manager Rev Dr Patrick Mugo said churches in Kajiado, Embu, Meru, and Kilifi counties have already benefited.

He said other churches will be covered in the next two years.

“We are seeking to reduce the hardships experienced by pastors in the country by providing church growth kits.

The items are necessary for evangelism,” he said.

Everyone of them willing to work with the organization will benefit.

“We have been able to give out approximately one million bibles,” Dr Mugo said.

In Homa Bay, 50 clerics were educated on how to reach people outside the church.

Among those targeted are convicts.

Dr Mugo said inmates in Embu were the first to receive 5,544 bibles.

“The materials are purchased locally to promote the local market,” he said.

Interfaith Council of Kenya chairman in Homa Bay Bishop Abrahams Odongo said the programme will bring different churches together.

Elijah Obado of Mount Zion Church urged clerics not to use the material for business.
